Navigators - Student Leadership Council
Empowering Homeschool Students to Lead, Serve, and Inspire
The Navigators Student Leadership Council is a student-run organization that gives homeschool students the opportunity to grow as leaders, drive their own events, make a positive impact in their community, and collaborate with peers across age groups and interests.
Whether you're passionate about event planning, service projects, public speaking, building relationships, or simply making your homeschool experience more enriching, the Leadership Council is a place where your voice matters and your ideas come to life.
Our Mission
To develop confident, responsible leaders who actively contribute to our homeschool community through service, communication, and collaboration.

Leadership Council members also help foster a sense of unity and school spirit, ensuring that every student feels included and valued.
Who Can Join?
The Navigators Student Leadership Council is open to all LVCHA teens and by application for our tweens. We welcome students of all personalities—introverts, extroverts, creatives, and organizers alike. If you're willing to contribute your time, ideas, and enthusiasm, there's a place for you on the Council.

Adult Advisors: Our Engagement Coordinator mentors these students, offering guidance while allowing students to take the lead. Our Teen Coordinator also helps support the events the students are planning.

Want to be a parent advisor?
- Reach out to Kelsy Colwell at [email protected].
- We are definitely looking for parents to support our students.
- Your role would simply be support.
- Asking questions to help them discover their own solutions.
- Connect them to resources.
- Provide gentle feedback to help their projects and events be successful.
- Get to know your student(s) and flex to their personality and style.
Do you have a business or volunteer opportunity?
- Awesome! If you feel there might be an opportunity for a student to connect their leadership project to this, please let us know.
- We bring these opportunities to our students. If something resonates with them, they can choose it as their project.
- We do not guarantee that all submitted opportunities will be filled. We want students to have choices as they explore their leadership skills, and this means they get to choose where to say yes and where to say no. Which is a great leadership skill right off the bat.
- Reach out to Kelsy Colwell at [email protected].
Corporate Internships
Navigators Student Leadership Council members have the opportunity to be considered for an internship as their Leadership Project. The student is paired with a corporate partner where they gain real-world leadership experience. The student will be fully supported by LVCHA advisors and will end their experience with a portfolio and letters of recommendation.
